Dear university colleagues and friends,
2017 has been the ninth year since I assumed the Rector position with our University. During this time, I have been truly impressed by our university community and I am grateful for your efforts in helping to improve, significantly, the status of our University. Your support has been extremely valuable to me and your commitment has inspired me. I am proud of the progress that we have made and will continue to make. For now, I have reached a point in my own career and life where I am considering new directions. As such, I would like to let you know that I intend not to seek for a renewal of my rectorship when it ends in 2018. It is my understanding that the UC will be launching a search in the coming months for a new rector. I have no doubt that they will seek a candidate with the abilities and energies to elevate this fine university to even greater achievements. Once again, I appreciate your partnership and support during my time as Rector; it has been a pleasure serving you and working with you.
